2008 HHS Football Awards Banquet

Varsity, JV & Fresshman Football Award Night.  Sunday December 14, 2008.  5:00 pm  Potluck Dinner in School Cafeteria followed by Award Ceremony at 6:15 in the Auditorium.  Each family should bring a main dish and a side dish (salad/vegetable) or dessert (cookies, brownies etc) enough to feed your family plus 2 people and a 2 liter bottle of soda/tea. Congratulations to the Varsity Football Team on their 9-2 season, a trip to the State Playoffs and a share of the 2008 SMAC Championhip.

2008 Junior Varsity Hurricane Football

Congratulations to the JV Football team: the 2008 JV Football Team under the coaching staff of Larry Bazey, Jimmy Beck, Mike Henshaw, Otis Brooks, and Mark Mozier had an undefeated season with a record of 10 – 0.  This record makes them the first JV football team to go undefeated in Huntingtown High School’s history.

2008 Freshman Hurricane Football

Congratulations to Coach Dan Ripple and the Freshman Football team, who finished the 2008 season with a record of 8-1.

Schedule Changes The JV/Freshman Football game vs. McDonough will now be Monday November 10 at 5 and 7. The Chopticon JV/Freshman Football game away has been moved from this Thursday to Saturday September 13 at 6:30 and 8:30.

Coach Franks inducted into Hall of Fame

February, 2008: Coach Jerry Franks inducted to Maryland High School Football Coaches Hall of Fame. 

Most of Calvert County has known the contribution Jerry Franks has made to the football community. And now the whole state knows after the longtime coach was inducted into the Maryland High School Football Coaches Association’s State Football Hall of Fame Feb. 16, 2008 at M&T Bank Stadium.  Read all the press coverage on the Coaching Staff Web Page.

Hurricane Football 2007

Thanks to the Hurricane Seniors for their time & effort this season and over the past four years. Be grateful for football, for the coaches, your teammates and all team members, the hardships, the practices, the games and the friendships that helped shape who you are as human beings. Good luck in all that you do.

Thanks to Coach Franks and his staff for all their hard work leading the Hurricanes to their best record and first playoff appearance. The Hurricane program is headed in the right direction.  Although the season did not end the way the Canes hoped, the seniors continued to build a foundation to which the underclassman can add next season.

College Bound:  Hurricane Seniors are going to be well represented in the college game.  8 graduating seniors are going to play at the next level.

Canes Football 2007 Season Highlight DVD

The 2007 Canes Football Season Highlight DVD is now available for $10.  The DVD contains team and senior photos, a photo slideshow and game video highlights.  Many thanks to photographers Jerry Gerdes, Mark Luppino, Laurie Uherek, Mike Brooks, and thanks to Coach Mark Thorn for videography.  Special thanks to Dwayne Hooper for DVD processing.  All proceeds benefit the Hurricane Football Program.  The DVDs are available from the Coaching Staff or from Dr. Brooks.
